Netflix nixes DVD rental subscriptions

On Friday, popular streaming platform Netflix finally shuttered its DVD subscription service for good.

The company’s DVD-by-mail service was first introduced in 1998 and became the foundation for Netflix’s client base.

However, the DVD offerings were progressively pushed to the side as Netflix began focusing on its streaming business 16 years ago.

Now, after 25 years of DVDs, Netflix will exclusively be a streaming service.
