HP chief Enrique Lores said he could hardly have anticipated the challenges that emerged months into his tenure at the computer company’s head in 2019.
The company found itself fending off a takeover attempt by Xerox Holdings.
Then came the pandemic leading to an almost-overnight surge in purchases for personal computers as schools and employers started operating remotely.
So while HP expects PC demand to eventually bounce back, the company is pivoting toward subscriptions for paper, ink, printers and, eventually, computers.
