The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation is warning consumers against the danger of public charging stations.
According to the FBI, USB port charging stations in public places like malls and airports could expose mobile devices to malware and viruses.
If a USB charging port has been compromised by hackers, a user’s phone could become infected and all of its data compromised.
As a result, the FBI urges U.S. consumers to carry their own charger and USB cord and plug it into an electrical outlet while charging in public places instead.
