Amazon ruled exempt from EU tax burden

The European Union’s top court ruled that Amazon does not have to pay €250 million in back taxes to Luxembourg.

This decision marks a setback for the EU’s efforts to challenge favorable tax deals between member states and multinationals.

The ruling confirms that the tax arrangement between Amazon and Luxembourg did not constitute illegal state aid.

The outcome underscores challenges faced by the EU in enforcing tax regulations against large corporations, as evidenced by similar recent cases.
