With members of the United Auto Workers labor union asking automakers to consider implementing a four-day work week, the movement toward a trimmed-down workweek is continuing to pick up traction across the United States.
Some advocates have said reducing the work week from 40 hours to 32 hours is becoming increasingly more viable as artificial intelligence and technological advances help workers become more productive.
Four-day workweek trials held in the UK showed that workers benefited from better sleep, less burnout and more time spent with family.
As the push toward the 32-hour work week continues to pick up steam, there may be a whole new meaning to the term “weekend warrior” in the United States’ near future.
