The ongoing fighting in Ukraine has disrupted a region in northern Norway that had thrived for centuries on cross-border trade and cooperation with Russia.
Locals were used to crossing from one country to the other visa-free.
The Norwegians would purchase cheap Russian gasoline; Russians would go to Norwegian malls.
But when President Vladimir V. Putin sent his troops marching into Ukraine, he interrupted the exchange and damaged bilateral trade.
