After a difficult month at the domestic box office analysts have characterized as “Slump-vember,” one pop superstar is seemingly putting December’s box office through a renaissance.
“Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” a documentary following the pop superstar’s similarly-named international tour, reportedly pulled in $21 million at the domestic box office last weekend.
This placed the concert film at the number one spot in the nation, ahead of “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” and “Godzilla Minus One.”
Though December’s later holiday season releases are also expected to provide a boon to the box office, Beyoncé’s early month contribution has seemingly put movie ticket sales back on track.
