Post-pandemic travelers are shying away from domestic travel in the United States, instead turning their time – and their dollars – toward international destinations.
International airfare is up 10 percent from 2022 and 26 percent from 2019, while hotel rates abroad are also surging.
Meanwhile, the average price of a domestic roundtrip ticket is down 11% from 2022.
As a result, U.S. airlines with a heavy domestic flight schedule have been negatively affected.
