Earning money was ranked number one by 1000 US consumers surveyed for Hong Kong-based blockchain and metaverse business Advokate, followed by socializing.
“The future of the Internet is an immersive metaverse with a variety of thrilling, fun play-to-earn games,” said Gordon Kwok, CEO and Founder of Advokate Group. “This survey illustrates that gamers and consumers are yearning for a digital space where they can play exciting games, socialize with friends and create and customize NFTs.”
Privacy was an issue for many of the respondents with 77% worried about Facebook owning the data they generate and 87% preferring the metaverse on a decentralized blockchain.
Approximately 50% of respondents considered that metaverses would be mainstream within 3 to 6 years, gaming being considered the principal draw.
