The Trump Administration is set to announce its latest trade agreements today, Trump’s July 9 deadline. So far, the President has only confirmed deals with three countries – the UK, China, and Vietnam.
Today, in a Truth Social post, the President wrote: “We will be releasing a minimum of 7 Countries having to do with trade … with an additional number of Countries being released in the afternoon.”
Late Tuesday, the Trump Administration confirmed there would be no further extensions granted, with the collection date for tariffs firmly set for August 1. “There has been no change to this date, and there will be no change,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump also declared, “Today we’re doing copper,” with the implementation of 50% tariffs on imports to the U.S. Following the announcement, COMEX copper futures dropped over 3%.
Speaking to reporters, President Trump said pharmaceuticals would be “tariffed at a very, very high rate… Like 200%.” He added, “We’re going to be announcing pharmaceuticals, chips, and various couple of other things – you know, big ones.”
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed that Trump plans to send 15 to 20 letters over the next two days.
During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, President Trump announced that the EU will receive a letter regarding tariffs set to begin from August 1. He mentioned, “We’re probably two days off from sending them a letter… I just want you to know, a letter means a deal.”
