Although the results are still coming in, Donald Trump has won the US Election by reaching the 270 electoral votes needed to win.
Donald Trump claimed victory after winning three of the essential swing states—North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. At 5:34 a.m., he surpassed the 270 electoral votes necessary to win.
Addressing the country from his home state of Florida, Trump said, “I’ll be fighting for you, and with every breath in my body. ” He assured supporters, “I will not rest until we deliver the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve.”
During his speech, Trump expressed a desire to unite the nation: “We are going to help our country heal.” He said, “It’s time to put the divisions of the past four years behind us. It’s time to unite … success will bring us together.”
Trump claimed the victory on behalf of the “MAGA movement,” and credited Republican wins in the Senate and House as a “powerful mandate”. He described his campaign as that of an underdog, “Look what happened – is this crazy,” he said, gesturing to the wound he received after the assassination attempt “This is a movement like no one has seen before,”.
Trump thanked the support of billionaires, pop culture figures, and Republican lawmakers, making reference to Elon Musk. “A star is born—Elon,” he said. He also made a special thanks to podcaster Joe Rogan.
Trump rounded off the assembly by saying, “Many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason. ” That reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness. And now we are going to fulfil that mission together.”
