According to a letter received by the New York Times, the U.S. General Services Administration sent a letter to senior procurement officials at federal agencies urging them to consider terminating contracts with Harvard University, which are valued at around $100 million.
The letter stated that Harvard “continues to engage in race discrimination” in its admissions process and campus life.
The letter read: “As you know, partnering with the federal government involves the significant responsibility and commitment to comply with all federal laws and protect taxpayer funds… As stewards of taxpayer money, the government must ensure that procurement funds are allocated to vendors and contractors who support and uphold principles of nondiscrimination and serve the national interest.”
The reported action occurred just five days after the Trump administration barred Harvard from enrolling international students. A federal judge in Boston temporarily lifted that ban, pending a court hearing later this week.
