OpenAI CEO Sam Altman appeared on his brother Jack Altman’s podcast “Uncapped,” revealing that tech giant Meta is offering OpenAI employees as much as $100 million to switch companies.
The CEO also criticized Meta, saying their current AI efforts haven’t lived up to expectations, but he “respects” Meta’s aggressive approach and willingness to try new things.
Altman stated, “They started making giant offers to a lot of people on our team… You know, like $100 million signing bonuses.”
Despite the increased incentive, Altman says no employees have made the move so far, “None of our best people have decided to take them up on that.”
Altman concluded, “There’s many things I respect about Meta as a company, but I don’t think they’re a company that’s great at innovation… I think we understand a lot of things they don’t.”
Meta’s recent recruitment strategy includes a $14.3 billion investment in Scale AI and its 28-year-old founder and CEO, Alexandr Wang.
