Morgan Stanley Wealth Management is leveraging generative artificial intelligence to reduce busy work for its financial advisors by introducing Debrief, a generative AI assistant built on OpenAI’s GPT-4, which will support advisors by sitting in on client meetings, summarizing key points, drafting emails and saving notes into Salesforce.
Vince Lumia, head of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management client segments, highlighted that Debrief significantly enhances day-to-day efficiency, allowing advisors to spend more time on meaningful client engagement. Jeff McMillan, the bank’s head of firm-wide artificial intelligence, noted that the quality of notes taken by Debrief surpasses that of human analysts, enhancing the overall client experience. Debrief represents the next step in Morgan Stanley’s partnership with OpenAI, which began in March 2023.
Morgan Stanley plans to roll out Debrief to its nearly 16,000 wealth advisors in the coming weeks. “As we reach critical mass in our AI @ Morgan Stanley endeavors, we envision a world where AI serves as an efficiency enhancing interaction layer that sits between our colleagues and the many applications they interact with such as execution and order entry, CRMs, reporting tools and risk analysis, just to name a few,” McMillan said in a statement.
