President Joe Biden and Billionaire Jeff Bezos just reminded everyone that they agree to disagree.
After the president tweeted last Friday that wealthy corporations should be paying their fair share of taxes to bring down inflation, Amazon founder accused President Biden of spreading “misdirection”.
“You want to bring down inflation? Let’s make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share,” Biden posted in his personal Twitter account Friday evening.
“Raising corp taxes is fine to discuss. Taming inflation is critical to discuss. Mushing them together is just misdirection,” Bezos responded, also via twitter, hours later.
Inflation in the U.S. has peaked to levels not seen in 40 years forcing a hawking Fed to move faster trying to fight rising prices.
The exchange came after President Biden claimed the U.S. was on track to see its largest yearly deficit decline ever, totaling $1.5 trillion.
The Amazon founder also said the Disinformation Board, which is a Department of Homeland Security and White House initiative to fight disinformation, should review Biden’s tweet.
Mr. Biden has criticized Amazon before. “I don’t think any company, I don’t give a damn how big they are, the Lord Almighty, should absolutely be in a position where they pay no tax and make billions and billions and billions of dollars,” Biden said running for president.
