Today, Hormel Foods announced the upcoming retirement of its CEO, James Snee, after 36 years with the company.
After nearly nine years as CEO, Snee will leave Hormel at the end of fiscal 2025. He will serve as a strategic advisor to the board while the company identifies a successor.
Snee told investors, “As CEO of Hormel Foods for the last eight years, I have been blessed to work alongside the most talented and committed team in the industry. I am proud of the impactful, innovative and transformational work we have accomplished during my tenure, which has been a period of rapid and significant change. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the leaders who came before me and to all the dedicated colleagues I’ve worked with during my 36-year career. As we begin this transition, I’m confident in the bright future that lies ahead for Hormel Foods.”
Under Snee’s leadership, the company grew through the acquisitions of PLANTERS, FONTANINI’s snacking portfolio, and the South America-focused CERATTI brand. In November 2024, under Snee, Hormel Foods announced its 59th consecutive year of annual dividend increases and recorded $12 billion in revenue.
Snee’s retirement comes when Hormel is battling a turbulent retail market. In the company’s December financial report, Snell said, “As we enter fiscal 2025, we are in a strong position to deliver quality earnings growth, further expand our market presence, and accelerate the impact of our T&M initiative. We expect each of our three segments to deliver top-line growth as we continue to lead on-trend categories, increase brand investments, and drive innovation in the marketplace.”
Hormel Foods Corporation is a Fortune 500 global branded food company based in Austin, Minnesota and serves 80 countries worldwide.
