Today in Famous Entrepreneurs’ Stories: Elon Musk sold about 22 million shares of Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) stock in 29 separate transactions this week, worth roughly $3.6 billion, bringing the total amount of Tesla stock sales to roughly $23 billion in 2022.
This sale is the second large amount of Tesla stock he has sold since his $44 billion purchase of Twitter (NYSE: TWTR), despite his pledge in April to stop selling shares to finance that deal.
At this point, it’s unclear if the recent sale was related to Twitter, but many Tesla shareholders are concerned that the innovative CEO entrepreneur Musk is diverting too many resources and too much of his attention to the social media company.
Musk still owns about 424 million shares of Tesla, excluding his management stock options.
