Elon Musk has been ordered to testify as part of a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigation of his $44 billion Twitter purchase and the two parties have one week to determine a time and place for the interview. If they cannot, the judge will set a time and place after speaking with both sides.
The agency is looking into whether Musk filed necessary paperwork regarding his purchases of Twitter stock and whether he made misleading statements about the acquisition.
Last year, the SEC sued Musk to force him to testify following his refusal to attend an interview as part of the investigation. Musk argued that the SEC had already interviewed him twice and that its continued requests amount to harassment.
The new order formalizes a tentative ruling made in December in favor of the SEC.
