Today, xAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, unveiled its latest offering: the updated Grok-3 model. According to Musk, this chatbot technology is the “smartest AI on Earth.”
Grok-3 will be available to Premium+ subscribers on X immediately. Named DeepSearch, the Grok-3 model outlines its process for understanding questions and details how it formulates its responses.
According to Musk’s demonstration, the model includes extra features for research, brainstorming, and data analysis, as shown in the presentation.
Grok-3 will directly compete with Alphabet Inc.’s Google Gemini, DeepSeek’s V3 model, Anthropic’s Claude, and OpenAI’s GPT-4o.
During a live stream, Musk noted that Grok-3 has “more than 10 times” the compute power of its predecessor.
“We’re continually improving the models every day, and literally within 24 hours, you’ll see enhancements,” Musk stated.
Musk indicated that he intends to release a voice-based chatbot “as soon as possible.”
After the Grok-3 updates were released, Andrej Karpathy, a co-founder of OpenAI, stated that it feels “somewhere around the state-of-the-art territory” of OpenAI’s strongest models.
