Today, Commercy Ministry Spokesperson He Yadong warned China is prepared to take “necessary actions” if the Biden Administration’s chip export restrictions come into action.
Last week, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce notified members that the government may add up to 200 Chinese chip companies to a trade blacklist, limiting U.S. suppliers from shipping to them.
Today, Yadong accused the US of abusing control over China, by using the concept of national security to target Chinese companies. “These actions severely disrupt the international economic and trade order, destabilise global industrial security, and harm the cooperative efforts between China and the U.S., as well as the global semiconductor industry,” Yadong stated.
The U.S. is reportedly tightening controls to prevent China from using advanced technologies to expand its military. “If the U.S. insists on escalating control measures, China will take necessary actions to resolutely protect the legitimate rights of Chinese enterprises,” Yarding concluded.
