Alex Mashinsky, the founder of the Celsius crypto firm, was arrested on Thursday on fraud charges.
He is also facing lawsuits from the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulators.
Mashinsky, 57, allegedly misled customers into believing that Celsius was a safe place to invest, when in reality it was fraught with risks.
Mashinsky was arrested at his home in New York, and the charges against him include wire fraud, commodities fraud and manipulation of securities prices.
