Today, Prime Minister Mark Carney urged his caucus to prepare for an exceptionally busy few months as Parliament reconvenes, vowing to act with “urgency and determination.”
Carney announced that his Liberal minority government plans to introduce various pieces of legislation aimed at “making life more affordable immediately,” which includes reducing interprovincial trade barriers and implementing an income-tax cut by Canada Day, June 1.
Carney will concentrate on creating “one Canadian economy” through a new economic and security partnership with the United States, while also strengthening ties with reliable trading partners.
On Tuesday, King Charles will deliver “The Speech From the Throne,” signaling the beginning of the new session of Parliament.
