Bonuses on Wall Street on average were $257,000 for 2021, 20% higher than the previous year, according to the New York Comptroller’s Office. The windfall was driven by a two-year stock market surge, as well as a rise in mergers and IPOs.

Since March 20th 2020, the low point of the COVID induced stock market decline in which stocks fell 34% in 33 days, the S&P 500 Index has risen 102%.

Average compensation for Wall Street workers was $438,370 per day while average compensation for private sector workers excluding finance was $92,315 per day.
