President Joe Biden’s popularity rating is continuing its downward trend despite a brief upward bounce after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, casting a cloud over November’s mid-term elections for the Democratic party.
According to the latest NBC News survey 40% of Americans approve of the US president’s job performance, compared to 43% in January. Meanwhile 71% of respondents believe the country “is off on the wrong track.”
In the political tracker FiveThirtyEight Biden’s approval rating is at 42.1% down from a peak 55% approval rating in March 2021.
During the November 2022 mid-term elections all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of 100 Senate seats will be at play.
According to the latest Pew Research Center poll 71% of Republican voters see their vote in the mid-terms as being against Joe Biden while 46% of Democrats view their vote as being for the US president.
