A group of seven automakers is joining up to construct 30,000 fast electric vehicle charging stations throughout the United States, which will allow EV owners to charge their cars to full capacity within 10 to 30 minutes.
The group behind the initiative includes car manufacturing giants Honda, Hyundai, Kia, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Stellantis.
Installing the chargers nationwide will reportedly cost the automakers approximately $1 billion.
Experts say expanding EV charging infrastructure could help encourage consumers to purchase electric vehicles over traditional combustion engine models.
