Pilots for major U.S. airline American Airlines approved a new labor contract Monday that’s set to provide the pilots with a significant pay bump.
The deal will give pilots a 21% immediate salary increase, which will be followed by 46% compensation increases over the course of their four-year contracts.
Approximately 15,000 American Airlines pilots will reportedly benefit from the new contract.
“This agreement will help American immediately expand our pilot training capacity to support under-utilized aircraft and future flying and provide our pilots with more opportunities to progress in their careers,” said American Airlines’ CEO Robert Isom following the deal’s approval.
