Amazon is hoping to lure more U.S. shoppers on Tuesday by offering deeper discounts on a wider range of goods and services during this year’s “Prime Day” 48-hour shopping event,.
For the first time, the platform is also including travel discounts.
Inflation, increased mortgage rates and higher food prices have slowed interest in the event by consumers ahead of the Prime Day discount, which falls on July 11-12 this year.
Amazon is marking 60% off Gap (GPS.N) clothing, 50% off on Sony headphones and 40% off Peloton (PTON.O) exercise bikes, in an effort to match last year’s Prime Day shopping event, which reached nearly $12 billion, up 8.5% from the previous year,
