Today, Adobe and Semrush Holdings, Inc. announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Adobe will acquire Semrush for approximately $1.9 billion.
Adobe, best known for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Analytics, is currently at the forefront of customer experience orchestration in the agentic AI era, offering comprehensive solutions across content supply chains, customer engagement, and brand visibility.
Following its latest acquisition, Adobe identifies Semrush as a leading brand visibility platform and a valuable partner for marketers. It helps manage brand visibility and audience reach using its data-driven generative engine optimization and search engine optimization solutions.
Anil Chakravarthy, president of Adobe’s Digital Experience Business told investors: “Brand visibility is being reshaped by generative AI, and brands that don’t embrace this new opportunity risk losing relevance and revenue. With Semrush, we’re unlocking GEO for marketers as a new growth channel alongside their SEO, driving more visibility, customer engagement and conversions across the ecosystem.”
Bill Wagner, CEO of Semrush commented, “Adobe is an industry leader in helping marketers create personalized customer experiences at scale. With the advent of LLMs and AI-driven search, brands need to understand where and how their customers are engaging in these new channels. This combination provides marketers more insights and capabilities to increase their discoverability across today’s evolving digital landscape.”
The deal comes amid Adobe’s 20% stock decline this year. In September, Adobe revised its fiscal-year outlook, stating that its investments in AI were beginning to yield positive results.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026.
