California-based Pacific Gas and Electric Company announced the end of its multi-billion-dollar tree trimming program on Wednesday.
According to PG&E, the company spent $2.5 billion on efforts to reduce the spread of California wildfires via tree-trimming.
However, the company has since stated that its tree pruning program was largely ineffective at its intended goal.
PG&E will instead reportedly shift focus toward implementing new power-line settings in wildfire-prone areas.
