Extreme weather events are expected to push wine production to the lowest level seen since 1961, says the International Organisation for Vine and Wine.
According to wine industry experts, heavy rains in Italy have caused mold to spread across grape crops, while extended droughts in Spain have dried up the nation’s vineyards.
As a result, wine production is expected to decrease a respective 12% and 14% from 2022 to 2023 in the two countries.
However, rising global temperatures from climate change are purportedly going to boost production in the U.S. Pacific Northwest to new heights this year with an expected 12% growth in production.
