A bountiful snowfall this winter has resulted in the Colorado River’s water levels rising for the first time in years.
Federal officials are expected to lift Tier 2 water shortage restrictions in favor of a Tier 1 designation next year in turn.
However, the true amount of water left in the Colorado River still remains unclear.
According to a UCLA study, the Colorado River has lost more than 10 trillion gallons of water due to climate change over the last two decades.
