An Alicia Keys’ musical, “Hell’s Kitchen,” and a band-centered dramatic play, “Stereophonic,” led the nominations for the 2024 Tony Awards. It was an unusually busy season, with 36 eligible productions vying for the Broadway award nods.
“Hell’s Kitchen,” a jukebox musical composed of Alicia Keys music, earned 13 nominations, including for Best Musical and four of its performers. “Stereophonic” also garnered 13 nods, with Best Musical, Best Score, Best Orchestration and five acting awards among them.
Daniel Radcliffe notably earned his first Tony Award nomination for his role in the Stephen Sondheim musical, “Merrily We Roll Along.” His costars, Jonathan Groff and Lindsey Mendez were also nominated.
The Tony Awards will be hosted on Sunday, June 16, by Oscar winner Ariana DeBose for the third consecutive year. It will air live from New York City’s Lincoln Center and televised on CBS and Paramount+.
