Andrew McCarthy’s new documentary, “Brats,” catches up with a number of Brat Pack stars, as well as celebrities adjacent to them, but it’s missing two central figures: Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson.
In “Brats,” which is now available to stream on Hulu, Ringwald and Nelson show up in archival footage from the 1980s, but do not sit down to talk to McCarthy himself. However, a number of other ’80s teen stars, such as Jon Cryer, Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Lea Thompson and Timothy Hutton, appear in the documentary and discuss how the height of their stardom—including being assigned part of the “Brat Pack”—affected them.
“The Brat Pack is an ongoing relationship, you know what I mean?” said McCarthy, who directed the documentary. “And some people are at different places in their lives to want to or not want to talk about it. I think that just informs it even more. I mean, that’s my takeaway from it.”
