U.S. jean making giant Levi Strauss has tapped former Kohl’s CEO Michelle Gass as its new chief executive, the company announced Thursday.
Gass will succeed current Levi’s CEO Chip Bergh, who served at the helm of the company for more than a decade.
Gass is set to begin her new position on Jan. 29 while Bergh, who will remain Levi’s executive vice chair until his retirement, will officially step down April 26.
“Chip has transformed this company and will leave it far better than when he arrived,” said Levi’s Chairman of the Board Bob Eckert. “I know we will continue to benefit from Chip’s strategic perspective as he continues to serve on the company’s board.”
