The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) posted over the weekend that it would go on strike 12:01 AM (ET) when the master contract between the US Maritime Alliance (USMX) and the ILA expires.
The strike would hit 14 ports all across the East Coast from Boston to Houston where approximately 50,000 ILA members work.
Issues at stake in the negotiations between the ILA and the USMX are automoitzation of ports and wages.
Negotiations have yet to start, leaving imports scrambling to move merchandise before an eventual strike.
