Kenneth C. Frazier resigns in a matter of personal conscience.
Merck CEO, Ken Frazier, resigned Monday morning from President Donald Trump´s American Manufacturing Council.
Merck and himself made a statement on Twitter stating that “personal conscience” has driven him to take the move after feeling “a responsibility to take a stand against intolerance and extremism”.
Frazier´s reaction comes after the violence that the state of Virginia witnessed this past weekend after a protest of hundreds of nationalists and neo-nazis.
The events turned deadly on Saturday when a car ran into a large group of counter-protesters.
Adding to the complaint, Frazier said: “America´s leaders must honor our fundamental values by clearly rejecting expressions of hatred, bigotry and group supremacy, which run counter to the American ideal that people are created equal.
“As CEO of Merck and as a matter of personal conscience, I feel a responsibility to take a stand against intolerance and extremism.”

Kenneth Frazier is not the only CEO to quit the Trump Administration, as Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, and Rober Iger, Chief Executive Officer for Disney, stepped apart from their advisory roles after the U.S. withdrew from the Paris climate accord.
The Merck CEO was named to an advisory council to Donald Trump´s administration on January with the objective to bust jobs in the manufacturing industry.
Ken was a member of the American Manufacturing Council and the Manufacturing Jobs Initiative, which is led by Andrew Liveris, CEO of Dow Chemical Company.
