On Monday, the Writers Guild of America near-unanimously approved a new three-year contract with Hollywood studios.
According to the WGA, 99% of the union’s membership voted in favor of ratifying the deal.
The contract reportedly includes restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence, new residuals schemes for streaming content, improved health benefits and pay increases across the course of the next three years.
“Through solidarity and determination, we have ratified a contract with meaningful gains and protections for writers in every sector of our combined membership,” said WGA West President Meredith Stiehm.
