According to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employers added approximately 199,000 jobs to the U.S. economy during the month of November.
Analysts previously predicted that 180,000 jobs would be added to the economy in November.
“The economy’s still humming along,” said former Department of Labor official Jane Oates. “For the past two weeks, all we’ve heard is doom and gloom about how this is going to be a terrible day. And it was a much better day than was predicted.”
The new job additions subsequently brought the unemployment rate down from 3.9% in October to 3.7% in November.
