On Monday, the United Auto Workers labor union ordered 6,800 of its members to strike at auto making giant Stellantis’ Ram 1500 pickup truck production facility, the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.
The surprise move targets Stellantis’ “largest plant and biggest moneymaker,” the UAW said in a statement.
According to the UAW, Stellantis has put “the worst proposal on the table” so far during the union’s ongoing negotiations with big three U.S. automakers.
“Despite having the highest revenue, … the highest profit margins, and the most cash in reserve, Stellantis lags behind both Ford and General Motors in addressing the demands of their UAW workforce,” added the UAW.
