Following the United Auto Workers historic tentative deals with the Big Three U.S. automakers, automaking giants Toyota, Honda and Hyundai announced their own set of wage raises for the companies’ non-union factory workers.
Honda is set to implement an 11% wage raise beginning next year while Toyota said it would hike wages by 9%.
Meanwhile, Hyundai announced a 25% wage raise over four years for its factory workers out of Alabama and Georgia.
According to auto industry experts, the wage raise move comes as a preemptive effort to avoid strikes on their U.S. facilities.
