On Thursday, sports broadcasting channel ESPN and the National Collegiate Athletic Association reached a new eight-year media rights deal worth $920 million.
The new deal is reportedly triple the value of the two parties’ current $40 million-per-year contract.
“ESPN and the NCAA have enjoyed a strong and collaborative relationship for more than four decades, and we are thrilled that it will continue as part of this new, long-term agreement,” ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro announced.
The deal will kick in beginning Sept. 1 and last through 2032, giving ESPN the rights to broadcast 40 NCAA championships annually.
