Right in the nick of time for the beginning of the National Football League’s Monday Night Football, entertainment giant Disney and cable service provider Charter Communications managed to strike a deal to restore customers’ service to ESPN.
Charter’s 15 million-plus subscribers were previously left without Disney-run channels like ESPN and ABC over Labor Day Weekend when the two parties failed to reach a contract renewal agreement.
Disney will reportedly provide Disney+ and ESPN+ as aspects of specific packages offered to Charter customers as part of the deal.
“This deal recognizes both the continued value of linear television and the growing popularity of streaming services while addressing the evolving needs of our consumers,” Disney and Charter leadership said in a joint statement.
