U.S. technology giant Apple’s stock fell 1% during trading Friday following news that the U.S. Department of Justice is preparing to file an antitrust suit against the company.
According to sources close to the matter, the suit is likely to surround how Apple’s technology and software structure impair competitors and users from operating the devices.
The company’s Apple Watch, which reportedly works better with Apple’s proprietary iPhones than other cellular devices, is predicted to be central to the case.
Apple’s internal payment system, which allegedly cuts out competitors from transactions on the company’s software, is also expected to be hammered out in the federal suit.
