After nearly three decades of collaboration, golf superstar Tiger Woods and athletic retailing giant Nike have decided to end their partnership as both parties attempt to tee off on a new chapter.
According to industry analysts, the move comes as Nike is rumored to be looking for an exit from the gold business.
“Tiger, you challenged your competition, stereotypes, conventions, the old school way of thinking,” Nike wrote on social media following the announcement. “You challenged the entire institution of golf. You challenged us. And most of all, yourself. And for that challenge we’re grateful.”
With Woods now reportedly seeking a new athletic sponsor, it remains to be seen if his successor will remain up to par with Nike’s decades-long dominance.
