When it comes to booking a taxi, rideshare company Lyft has decided it’s no longer a man’s world – at least, not when selecting a driver, that is.
According to a blog post posted by the company on Tuesday, Lyft will now allow its female and non-binary riders to request the gender of their ride’s driver, though it cannot guarantee that the request will be accommodated.
The “Women+ Connect” feature will purportedly give non-male riders confidence while booking a car, as well as give added incentives for women drivers to join the platform.
With the feature slated to roll out across the next several months, expect Lyft to become a haven for women and non-binary riders in the rideshare industry.
