Donald Trump promises to take swift action on executive orders within hours of being sworn in today. As of Sunday, Trump stated that he has up to 200 pending executive actions on his agenda.
During his rally in Washington yesterday, he approached his agenda by stating, “Like hell, we’re going to do it over weeks; we’re going to sign them at the beginning. We have to set our country on the proper course.”
During Trump’s first term, the S&P 500 rose nearly 68%. Today, markets remain optimistic about the incoming administration.
Here are Trump’s anticipated priorities for his first day:
Energy – reversing limitations on fossil fuel companies.
TikTok – sign an extension to give the company a reprieve over its ban.
Immigration — renew security on the southern border and further tighten limitations on immigration through Mexico. Begin mass deportations.
Tariffs – This week, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed Republicans’ plan for “a more generalized tariff as a revenue raiser for the federal budget. ”
In November, Trump stated, “I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States.” However, in recent appearances, Trump appears to have reconsidered this number regarding tariffs for China, Mexico and Canada.
Political pardons – Trump plans to pardon his supporters who were convicted of their roles in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the US capitol.
Trump’s swearing-in ceremony begins at 11 am EST.
