The Kahului-Wailuku-Lahaina metro area on the island of Maui, Hawaii and the Las Vegas metro area in Nevada registered the highest non-farm payroll employment increases year-over-year in January 2022, growing by 13.7%.
These were followed by the Atlantic City, New Jersey, metro area at 13.1%.
In metro areas with a population of more than 1 million the largest gains were in Las Vegas, followed by Orlando and San Diego at 9.1% each.
In absolute numbers the greatest increases were in the New York metro area, which added 504,000 jobs, and the Los Angeles area which added 464,000 jobs.
The major metro area with the slowest employment growth was Milwaukee with 0.8%.
