TotalEnergies announced Monday that it is expanding its U.S. joint venture with KKR to include an additional $1.2 billion renewables portfolio.
The deal includes three utility-scale solar projects in Texas and Ohio, boosting the joint venture, created in 2025, to 1.4 gigawatts, adding an additional 700 megawatts.
The deal expansion comes as TotalEnergies, headquartered in Paris, France, continues to build its competitive portfolio that combines renewables (solar, onshore wind, offshore wind) and flexible assets (CCGT, storage). TotalEnergies holds more than 37 GW of gross renewable power generation capacity and aims to achieve over 100 TWh of net electricity production by 2030.
KKR, headquartered in NYC, is a leading global investment firm that offers alternative asset management as well as capital markets and insurance solutions.
The joint venture is expected to reach its commercial operation date by the first quarter of 2027.
