Following President Trump’s decision to postpone tariffs on the auto industry, Stellantis expressed gratitude to the White House for negotiating the previously established 25% tariff earlier this week.

The automaker issued a statement acknowledging its alignment with Trump’s goal of increasing American-made vehicle production and suggested potential further collaboration with Washington.

“In the first 100 hours of his new Administration we announced major investments to grow our business in America,” the Stellantis statement read, “We share the President’s objective to build more American cars and create lasting American jobs. We look forward to working with him and his team.”

Since Trump took office, Stellantis has expressed strong support for his “determination to enable the American automotive sector to thrive.”

Ford, which also entered talks with President Trump on Wednesday, expressed its gratitude for the decision, “We appreciate President Trump’s work to support our industry and exempt auto companies complying with USMCA. We will continue to have a healthy and candid dialogue with the Administration to help achieve a bright future for our industry and US manufacturing.”

Trump has granted automakers a one-month exemption from the 25% tariffs, provided they “comply with existing free trade rules.”
