U.S. media labor union the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists has requested the approval of a strike against the video game industry, the union announced Friday.
SAG-AFTRA previously extended its Interactive Media Agreement with video game companies last fall, though the two parties were unable to reach a new deal during subsequent negotiations.
The media union is reportedly requesting an 11% retroactive pay bump for video game performers, as well as additional year-over-year wage increases in order to offset inflation.
SAG-AFTRA members will be able to vote to authorize a strike until Sept. 25.
